Notary Services

I notarize documents two ways: in-person across the Seattle area (King and Snohomish counties), or remotely from anywhere with a webcam and internet connection. Most people need one or the other — here's how to tell which fits.

Remote Online Notary

Fee: $25 per notarial actIf you can't get to me — or I can't get to you — RON solves it. You connect with me through BlueNotary, a Washington State-approved video platform. The system verifies your ID through a knowledge-based authentication step, records the session, and I apply my electronic seal. Usually takes 10-15 minutes.RON works for you if:
- You don't live in the Seattle area but need an immediate notarization
- You can't leave home for medical, mobility, or scheduling reasons
- Your document is time-sensitive and you need it notarized tonight
- Your document recipient accepts electronic notarization (most do)
You'll need: a government-issued photo ID, a webcam-equipped device, and the document as a PDF.

IN-PERSON NOTARIZATION

Fee: $15 per notarial act, plus travel from Bothell ($1.00/mile round trip, $35 minimum)I come to you — your home, office, hospital, care facility, coffee shop, or wherever works. Standard service area is King and Snohomish counties. Trips beyond get quoted case-by-case.You'll need: a government-issued photo ID, the document you're signing (unsigned — you sign in front of me), and anyone else who needs to witness or sign.

What I Don't Do

To set clear expectations:- Real estate closings or loan signings — these require Notary Signing Agent (NSA) certification, which I don't hold. I'll refer you to someone qualified.
- Legal advice — I can notarize documents, but I can't tell you what they mean or whether you should sign. Talk to an attorney.
- Immigration documents or consulting — Washington notaries cannot represent clients in immigration matters. If anyone offers, run.
- Notarizations without a valid government-issued photo ID — no exceptions.
- Notarizations for myself or close family members — conflict of interest.

frequently asked questions

Is remote online notarization legally valid?
Yes. Washington State authorized RON under RCW 42.45.280, and 47 other states recognize Washington-issued electronic notarizations through interstate reciprocity. The only states that currently restrict it are California, South Carolina, and a handful of jurisdictions with specific exceptions. If you're unsure, ask the entity receiving your document whether they accept Washington RON before we schedule.
What documents can you notarize?
Standard general notary work, including:
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Powers of attorney (financial and medical)
- Authorization letters
- Travel consent forms for minors
- Bills of sale
- Trust certifications
- Marriage affidavits
- School and employment verification documents
- Most documents that require a notarial acknowledgment, jurat, oath, affirmation, or signature witnessing
I don't handle real estate closings, loan signings, immigration documents, or anything requiring legal advice. See Services for the full list of what's out of scope. How do I know what type of notarial act I need?
The document usually tells you. Look for language like "subscribed and sworn" (that's a jurat), "acknowledged before me" (an acknowledgment), or a pre-printed notary block at the bottom of the document. If the document doesn't specify, the person or entity asking you to get it notarized should tell you. I can't legally choose for you — that would be giving legal advice.
Do I need to sign the document before I see you?
No — and please don't. For most notarial acts, you must sign in front of me. If you bring a pre-signed document, I'll likely have to ask you to sign again on a fresh copy.
What identification do you accept?
Any current, government-issued photo ID with your signature. The most common: driver's license, state-issued ID card, U.S. passport, passport card, military ID, or tribal ID. The ID must be unexpired and the name must match the document being notarized.
If you don't have a valid government-issued ID, Washington law allows credible witness identification — but that requires advance setup. Contact me to discuss. How long does an appointment take?
- Remote online notarization: 10-15 minutes for a single act, including ID verification.
- In-person, single act: 15-20 minutes including travel buffer.
- Multi-act sessions: add 5-10 minutes per additional act.
I block 30 minutes minimum for in-person appointments to account for parking, document review, and unexpected questions. How quickly can you fit me in?
Most requests within 24 hours. Same-day appointments available with the rush fee. RON appointments can often happen within an hour during business hours if I'm at my desk. Text me — I'll tell you what's possible.
Do you work evenings and weekends?
Yes. Standard business hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After-hours service (evenings, weekends, holidays) adds a $30 surcharge.
What if my document requires witnesses?
I can provide additional witnesses for RON sessions through BlueNotary at $15 per witness. For in-person appointments, you're responsible for arranging your own witnesses — they must be present, unrelated to the signing parties, and have valid photo ID.
Can you notarize for someone in a hospital, care facility, or jail?
Yes. I do bedside notarizations at hospitals and skilled nursing facilities across King and Snohomish counties. Jail and correctional facility visits require advance coordination with facility staff and an additional $50 surcharge to account for security protocols and time.
Can you help me prepare or fill out my document?
No. Washington law prohibits notaries from drafting legal documents or advising on their content unless we're also licensed attorneys. I can help with formatting, scanning, or attaching a loose-leaf certificate ($25 fee), but I can't tell you what to write or whether the document is legally sufficient.
What payment methods do you accept?
Through QuickBooks invoicing: credit card or bank transfer (ACH). Privately by arrangement: Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App. Payment is due upon receipt unless we've agreed otherwise.
Are you bonded and insured?
Yes. I carry the Washington State-required $10,000 surety bond and errors and omissions insurance. My commission is registered with the Washington Department of Licensing.
What's your commission number?
Available on request. I'll also include it on every notarial certificate I issue.
Have a question that's not here?
Text or email — I'll answer directly, and add it here if it's something other people are likely to ask.
